Serving the most marginalised on four continents
This Congregation of Apostolic Life was founded in the 17th century by Jean-Baptiste Delaveyne. Rather than live an enclosed life he wanted the Sisters to live among the people.
The mission of the Sisters of Charity of Nevers is to manifest the tenderness of God, the Charity of the Father to the most marginalised. Prayer and commitment characterise the life of the Sisters.
The Sisters are involved in different associations working for the dignity of people on the continents of Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. The Sisters of Charity of Nevers, established in Lourdes at the beginning of the 19th century, welcomed Bernadette Soubirous into the Congregation after the apparitions.
